Athena
Athena was fierce and brave in battle; however, she only took part in wars that only defended the state and home from outside enemies. She was the embodiment of wisdom , reason and purity. She was favored by Zeus her father and was allowed to use his weapons including his thunderbolt. Her holy tree was the Olive Tree and she was often symbolized as an owl. Athena’s Roman name is Minerva. Athena was the Goddess of crafts, the domestic arts and also those of war. By the late Classic, she had come to be regarded as a goddess of Wisdom.
